I like the education component offered by Penzey's. And good for them for having an opinion on the issue.

Totally. I've looked to see if there is software that works well with common copyeditor's marks, but so far have turned up nothing that offers quite the advantages of old-fashioned pen and paper.

If I could flip a tablet landscape, plug it into a keyboard, and type in a Writeroom- like environment, and use a stylus to "hand-edit" and then, sync that to my desktop.

The rest of it could then be like my iPod touch but a little bigger.

I'd be all up into that.

I have to apologize to Hulu -- maybe it's always been this way, and I just missed it, or maybe it was changed sometime in the past 8 months -- but you can choose in your subscriptions to only receive "TV fisrt-run only."

I'm glad to see you thinking through both the processes and the implications of communicating on behalf of academics. This post speaks to the heart of what I do every day. It's an exciting time for communicators, as new platforms develop, and as new faculty come on board already aware of the benefits of social media (and some already engaged).

Thanks. A key difficulty for higher ed pr folks is that creating high quality content means putting demands on faculty time, faculty who are often already overburdened with teaching, research and academic administration/bureaucracy. I'm not sure that there are any easy ways around that.

And, of course, many colleges and universities have been telling these stories for years in alumni magazines and online newsrooms.
